The plan carries English, Chinese and romanized Chinese inscriptions. A note on the plan states: „The Chinese characters and explanations rendered into English were furnished by Mr. Samuel Birch, from a comparison of the above documents and the notes appended to the original by the students in the Missionary College at Naples.“ Details of the original (Chinese) version, produced around 1820, are not given.
