Pfizmaier introduces parts of the works of Zhang Zhongjing 張仲景  (formal name Zhang Ji 張機), a Han dynasty physician, who had summed up Chinese medical experience up to his days in the  Shanghan zabing lun 傷寒雜病論, lit. „Treatise on Cold Pathogenic and Miscellaneous Diseases“.

The present volume is an off-print from Sitzungsberichte der phil.-hist. Cl. der kais. Akad. der Wissenschaften LI. Bd.(November 1865) pp. 257-309.
