John Mandeville: Itineraria

Jehan de Mandeville (John Mandeville or John of Mandeville) is the name claimed by the (unknown) compiler of a book of (supposed) travels. The book, written in Anglo-Norman French, was compiled between 1357 and 1371 and covers travels to  the Holy Land, the Far Eastm and to the land of Prester John. It gained popularity by way of translations into many European languages and was used as a work of reference – despite the unreliable and often fantastical nature of the travels described.
