The Société asiatique founded the Journal asiatique in 1822 with the aim of promoting Oriental studies. The journal has been published without interruptions since 1822 and is currently published by the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, CNRS (publisher: Peeters, ISSN 0021-762X)
